Public bug reported: Background: Headless, no-removable media box that has been used to beta test all Ubuntu pre-releases. Old Celereon 400, raid1 from 'just a bunch of (old) disks'. With latest 2.6.17-6 fails to boot (boot screen captured at <http://www.zen35309.zen.co.uk/EdgyBootFail.jpeg>).
DosSegMgr: Warning (about geometry) .... libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel ... Aborted No volume groups found (Hangs here) Eventally fails to busybox, from which you cannot exit. The only option is to reboot (and fail again). Fortunately, there an old kernel.org kernel on the box, which boots far enough to get a shell, so rescue may be possible if the underlying problem can be fixed. Previous Edgy's (upgraded and tested about once a week have booted). I appreciate Edgy is development; however it would be nice if the box is not completely fscked. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Edgy updates of 2006-08-12 render machine unbootable https://launchpad.net/bugs/56155 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
