Hello Pascal, I'll try adding everyone to the lpadmin group to see what happens, but I believe I tried it before and it didn't work.
And yes, the first user added to the machine does have this privilege after all. That user's username isn't entered as default in the dialogue box - 'root' is. Perhaps changing that would fix this problem as well.
