Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I noticed an huge amount of xorg crashes on a lot of differents occasions.
Crashes always happens when I do one of thoses actions :
 - use firefox : firefox usual crash itself when it does parse intensive
javascript (gmail...), but that's not this bug object. Whatever the action I
do, it can, randomly (and very very rarely), totaly freeze xorg (excepted
sometimes the mouse). On my computer (1 Go of RAM, AMD 64, Ubuntu Dapper Drake
x86 with k7 kernel) it happened 1 time, but on my girlfriend's one (laptop,
256Mo of RAM, Pentium II, Ubuntu Dapper Drake x86) it happened several times
 - use.... a lot of RAM. Happened a lot of time with Eclipse, and mathematical
applications. The crash that made me do that report was with Qalculate, when I
asked it to derivate a 45000 entries plot.

Then, that bug is quite embarrassing as bug, but could be more : if a
privilege-less user can crash xorg by surfing the web, and the crash is
obviously related to memory, there is (I think) a high risk to have some
security hole...

Oh, and I play the music using mpd. Then I can be sure that xorg is the only
freezed software (even if it locks keyboard...), because the music is still
playing when it crashes. And here is my uname -a :
Linux HAL 2.6.15-26-k7 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 3 03:40:32 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
