I can't remember back, what I have done, but package updates work fine now. Most of the time I can help myself quite good. I just report the problems to give some feedback, I don't expect anything. One problem I still have on my NC10: The window manager crashes and restarts immediately every now an then. I don't know why, maybe because my initial install/upgrade of 10.10 is not 100% ok. I did this with a RC of 10.10. I'll try your hint in #3 and I'll try 11.4 with a fresh install, when it is available. Sorry, that I can't give more precise feedback and thanks for your efforts.
