I have also had this problem with EDGY. Also, my wireless is not configured correctly in edgy when installed from CD. Works ok, when upgraded from internet, but still can't see other wireless networks. Also my dad can't seem to get modems to work on edgy. Dapper works fine with both.
I am convinced the edgy network-manager has many problems. >this "I've noticed that network-admin now runs as non-root." sounds like it could be the problem for the scanning. from what I've heard it may still not be working in feisty beta.
