Ok, I managed to reproduce the breakage. 1- Install maverick minimal (I just selected openssh server) with multiple separate FS on LVM 2- update maverick -> latest update. 3- change apt to point to natty 4- upgrade -> linux-image, mountall, libc6, grub-pc
