Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit version and a Geforce 9600GT.

When I applied updates using Update Manager I installed a newer kernel
(2.6.35-27-generic). When I rebooted the system, I could not get X to
start.

I have tried using a couple of extra boot parameters like nomodeset and
and rdblacklist=nouveau, in case it was some sort of regression, but
these didn't work.

For now I am booting from the 2.6.35-25-generic kernel.

I'm not sure how I can provide you with more bug report information for
this newer kernel if i can't get x. Would booting into a shell on the
-27 kernel and using "ubuntu-bug -p linux" work?

Thanks for your help.
