Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-14-generic

After todays upgrade (April 12/13) I can't boot my laptop using the
2.6.20-14 kernel (confirmed for both generic and lowlatency kernels)
although I can still boot using an older kernel (2.6.20-13 and
2.6.20-12) but then the nvidia driver doesn't work (I'm now using the nv
module just to get into x)

Here's what happens when I try to boot the new kernel:
I see the usplash start, I see the progress meter start at the minimum position
(it doesn't move from there at all)
my usb mouse starts, stops then starts again
and thats where the boot process hangs indefinitely

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the kernel, it could be a problem
with one of the first boot process's, but I assume since it still boots
with the older kernels that it most likely is a problem with the kernel

Cheers
Eugene
