To clarify, Dropbox's indicator menu works fine in Maverick. In Natty, it sounds like it isn't detecting that the indicator-applet is present, so it falls back to adding a notification area applet, which doesn't display in Natty. If Dropbox's indicator-applet detection has broken from Maverick to Natty, there are likely other implementations that have broken as well. At the very least, the indicator-applet change should be reported to them so they can fix it.
