Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

natty i386 updated

Have seen many times, not only with Natty, that gedit fail to open huge file
due to unrecognized automatic character encoding.
My system use utf-8 and gedit fail using "automatic detection"

For example today i've tried, for my needs, to edit /var/lib/available
which is heavy weighted, ~ 30 Mio, and fail to open it. Changing
"automatic detection" to select " occidental (ISO-8859-15) re-encode
that file and then open it without trouble.

So the problem is clear: gedit only use utf-8 and never test and use
fallback to iso-8859-15, that mean "automatic detection" is a joke.
