Hum...Strange enough. Really. From my fairly basic skills, what about a chipset problem? Most of the Laptops affected seem to be ASUS for me. And quite a number appears to be using a SiS-chipset. Maybe that is where we can start off for hunting it down? Plus: Is LAPIC entirely hardware-relying or does the kernel do a thing about it? Maybe take a look at the differences in that area between the openSUSE-kernel vs. Ubuntu/possibly Debian?
