**UPDATE**

On Lubuntu, I have Chromium installed and it's the UK-English version
throughout:

*The text explaining what the "Incognito" feature does is written in UK-English
e.g. "behaviour" is not spelt "behavior".
*In the settings there's "Under the Bonnet" instead of "Under the Hood", the
former being the British version.
*The default language for spell checking is already set to "English (United
Kingdom)".
*Various other differences in spelling throughout Chromium.

This definitely proves that there's a bug somewhere in Ubuntu and/or
Chromium, which means that when installing Chromium, the user does not
get the correct version installed which matches the system's locale. On
Lubuntu, this is not a problem - on Ubuntu it is.
