Heya,

>From your cat, your system currently has:

"cat /proc/version" Returns:
Linux version 2.6.38-6-generic

Which is release number 38, Release candidate 6.

RC8 was made available:

Mon, 7 Mar 2011
http://lwn.net/Articles/431999/

but it looks like there's a slight lag as

RC 7 only just made it into natty:

Tue Mar 15
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/natty-changes/2011-March/009413.html

Which is my bad, I jumped at the release of it since it mentioned ath9k
twice:

ath9k: correct ath9k_hw_set_interrupts
ath9k_htc: Fix an endian issue

If you want to check if RC8 is in natty yet this page has:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux
! A newer version of linux is available for packaging: Linux 2.6.38-rc8

When rc8 is packaged and in the repo's it should look something like
this:

The Natty Narwhal (active development) Linux trunk series
 2.6.38-8.XX

Where xx is a number the ubuntu kernel team has assigned.

hope this helps :)
