I looked at the installed drivers and saw that I had different ones for
device HP5000 and HP5000onepage. Only the "onepage" driver had trouble.
This one had a driver of "HP LaserJet 5000 Series Postscript
(recommended)", when I switched to "HP LaserJet 5000 hpijs, 3.10.2" it
worked again.
Furthermore the driver "HP LaserJet 5000 Series Postscript
(recommended)" is not even available any more for me, so it seems to
have been caused by an outdated printer driver.
Not sure if it makes sense to further investigate, therefore I am
closing this for now.
