Public bug reported: Hi I have tried installing everything I could find to get audio going on my laptop. At first, I had sound only from the on-board speakers, but no audio from the S/PDIF / headphone combo jack output. I tried fixing that with all kinds of scripts installing various ALSA drivers and whatnots (I'm not very fluent in Linux, so I tried the Software Centre also) and have just given up when no sound, not even on my onboard speakers, would work.
I'm almost on the point of throwing the thing out a window, because trying to get the thing running in Windows is even worse (that's how much I felt like giving up!!!) If someone out there could help me, I will really appreciate it. I don't really understand what I'm doing when following text-based commands like modprobe and all that, but so far nothing worked, so I don't think it was worth remembering just yet. Hope someone can help.
