(/dev/sda,msdos4) and (/dev/sda4) are both equally unintelligible to
GRUB, so there's no logical reason for this to have made any difference.

While I probably ought to get round to fixing the device names here,
they aren't supposed to matter - the 'search' line immediately following
is supposed to find the relevant partition by filesystem UUID.
