Public bug reported: I have 80GB hard disk and it's formated as reiserfs (v3.6 standard and r5 hash). This hard disk is inserted into USB to IDE box. So I connected this 80GB USB disk into Kubuntu 6.06 LTS with kernel 2.6.15-23-386 (the original, which came with Kubuntu 6.06).
I need to copy 7GB file (*.iso). It copies ca 39% and the file size is 2,8GB (2 969 276 416 B) and then Konqueror said for copying status "Stopped". No error messages but just stopped. When I hit on the button "cancel" and start again then it copies the same amount of data. I monitored /var/log/messages and it said: Aug 14 14:35:27 computer_name kernel: [4305230.697000] sda: sda1 Aug 14 14:35:27 computer_name kernel: [4305230.729000] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi disk sda Aug 14 14:35:27 computer_name kernel: [4305230.738000] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0 Aug 14 14:35:39 computer_name kernel: [4305242.887000] ReiserFS: sda1: found reiserfs format "3.6" with standard journal Aug 14 14:35:44 computer_name kernel: [4305247.554000] ReiserFS: sda1: using ordered data mode Aug 14 14:35:44 computer_name kernel: [4305247.584000] ReiserFS: sda1: journal params: device sda1, size 8192, journal first block 18, max trans len 1024, max batch 900, max commit age 30, max trans age 30 Aug 14 14:35:44 computer_name kernel: [4305247.585000] ReiserFS: sda1: checking transaction log (sda1) Aug 14 14:35:44 computer_name kernel: [4305247.609000] ReiserFS: sda1: Using r5 hash to sort names ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- ReiserFS: Cannot copy larger than 2,8GB file https://launchpad.net/bugs/56335 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
