Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

totem-gstreamer 'streaming' problems

System: Ubuntu Feisty Fawn Beta (clean install)

Software: totem-gstreamer (totem-mozilla-plugin)

Codecs: All gstreamer0.10-plugins installed (base, base-apps, good, bad,
bad-multiverse, ugly, ugly-multiverse, ffmpeg)

First: Working with ubuntu since 'Hoary', I never was able to get a convenient
configuration with totem-gstreamer. That's why I normally used mplayer and
totem-xine for all the multimedia files. These two programs together gave me,
what I wanted.

So I gave totem-gstreamer another try with ubuntu feisty. These are the
two kinds of streams, where totem-gstreamer always had (and still has)
problems.

a)

- Website:
www.tagesschau.de (we want to watch the last news)

- Stream:
mms://213.254.239.51/tagesschau/msmedia/2007/0416/TV-20070416-1616-5201.wm.hi.wm

When I open the stream via the website and the totem-mozilla-plugin, the
plugin gets loaded and then... nothing. So I open the link in totem
(right mouse click). The software starts to buffer until 100%... then
nothing. It looks that the plugin recognizes the stream and buffers it.
But then it fails to play.

I get the fallowing console output of totem:

(totem:6179): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add
`mms://213.254.239.51/tagesschau/msmedia/2007/0416/TV-20070416-1616-5201.wm.hi.wmv'
to the list of recently used resources, but not MIME type was defined

b)

- Website:
www.cnn.com (we just take the first video link we find)

- Stream:
mms://wmscnn.stream.aol.com/cnn/politics/2007/04/14/bush.radio.address.cnn.ws.wmv

When I open the stream via the website and the totem-mozilla-plugin the
plugin gets loaded and then... nothing. So I open the link in totem
(right mouse click). As result I get an error message, saying 'The
playback of this movie requires a audio/x-asf-unknown decoder plugin
which is not installed'. Thanks ;)
