I have commented on a duplicate of this (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/751048/comments/1) but I'll repeat it here, maybe it will help.
My theory is that QT apps use the "Medium" variant of the font instead of the "Regular" variant if the font in use has a "Medium" variant, because up until now the Ubuntu font did not have a "Medium" variant and everything worked fine. After the upgrade the newer version of the Ubuntu font has a "Medium" variant and suddenly the QT apps now render with a bolder font. If I happen to set the application font to the Ubuntu "Medium" variant in the Appearances dialog then the fonts in GTK+ and QT apps looks to be rendered the same. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to qt4-x11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/741862 Title: Default interface font is too bold in all Qt4 applications -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
