If it helps, the bug also has not occurred so far under Ubuntu Classic. And when I was using Unity with the proprietary nvidia drivers, I got similar lockups but after waking from sleep, with a completely white screen and cursor being able to move -- and random windows had their insides filled white despite still responding to input.
