Got the mistake: in the network-manager, the wireless network was deactivated (nm-applet -> wireless network). This is a bit confusing, as my BIOS-setting allows the hardware switch to do several things (de/activate bluetooth, wireless and WWAN) and ubuntu seems to overwrite this setting.
Anyway, I'm changing this to "invalid" as the mistake obviously was in OSI layer 8. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749668 Title: Intel Ultimate N WiFi 5300 cannot be activated -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
