This bug is still present. Using both update-manager and aptitude linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-15-generic failed to install when updating from kernel 2.6.20-14-generic to 2.6.20-15-generic, despite having linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-14-generic previously installed. This caused the nvidia-glx-legacy drivers to fail to load. Manually installing linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-15-generic fixed the problem. This is clearly a problem of marking dependencies. I noticed that I do not have the package linux-restricted-modules-generic marked as installed, and only the kernel-specific packages marked. Perhpaps this is the problem? I will install the non-version-specific package and see if it clears the problem up.
