Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: shotwell

Let's assume you are viewing an image in the so-called "image view" and
you want to delete it: right-click it and click on "Move to
Wastebasket". The view is auto updated and now you are watching the next
image: press Left-arrow key and you will visualize the image you wanted
to delete, so you think you have not deleted it. If you quit and restart
Shotwell, you will notice that the image has been moved to the
Wastebasket, so I assume it is just a problem of updating the image
view.

** Affects: shotwell (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
