We experience severe PPTP performance degradation with an lucid 64 bit server. (upgraded/new install of an debian-5.0 installation) The degradation is 50-70% in throughput and is very unstable. After testing (on also an 32 platform), my conclusion is that the performance degradation is not related tot 32/64 bit kernel. Is not related to the latest pppd (2.4.4 2.4.5) or pptpd (v1.3.4 default install and own compiled v1.3.4experimantal) On an 32bit platform (ubuntu lucid) I tested the PPTP performance with kernel 2.6.30 2.6.30.10 2.6.31 2.6.31-karmic. On the 2.6.30 the performance is OK. On the 2.6.31 the performance is degraded.
