I ran a CLAMAV scan and it marked the FGLRX.ko file as a virus and put it in the quarantine. The mouse hung, and had to kill compiz from the terminal (CTRL+ALT+F2), which was running at 100%. Also had the fuzy colorful screen like the original reporter had.
