I can confirm this, and can see a few people using this configuration. I
have a laptop using nvidia-current and screen cloning so I can use a
1280x1024 monitor though the HDMI port plus USB keboard & mouse when I
am at my desk and use the built in 1920x1080 screen when I am roaming.

The problem is that when I clone the screens using nvidia-settings the
Unity launcher menu (Ubuntu logo in the top left) is not present on
either screen. I get everything else, including the far right "power"
button.

This is confirmed in the latest update on 2011-04-20.
