I modified it last time when I had Hoarty (If I remember correctly), after that, all modifications to /etc/network/interfaces have been done with Ubuntu network configuration, NetworkManager and KNetworkManager. It was working fine, I didn't modify the file, it just stopped working on an upgrade.
