This is because the click on a network printer entry triggers a check whether the printer is supported by the HPLIP software. System-config- printer needs some optimization there. Possible optimizations:
- If the manufacturer name is known and not HP or Apollo, do not check - Use hp-mkuri ("-i ..."/"-z ...") instead of hp-makeuri for checking general HPLIP support. Then use "hp-mkuri -c" to check whether the device also supports fax. Tim, WDYT? This is not very urgent (does not need to get fixed for Natty) as the delay is not so long, but in general, this should get improved. ** Changed in: system-config-printer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: system-config-printer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765527 Title: The "add a printer" wizard windows freezes for some seconds until you can click on the entry of the detected network printer -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
