I have this problem too. It's very annoying. I got my IP from a "AVM Fritz Box WLAN" router. The AVM guys do a good work and are not to blame that they don't offer DNS lookup .. I think .. Perhaps this problem will occur in very much home-network use-cases - those people which Ubuntu is mainly targeting. There must be a solution very soon.
