I'm not sure if it's related, but I just then experienced the same thing. I was able to use the computer for about 30 seconds after being away from the computer for 20 minutes. The computer wasn't in sleep mode, but the screensaver had kicked in. When I moved the mouse I was able to do things, and 30 seconds later it took me to the resume screen requiring a password. I'm using ubuntu 11.04 64bit.
