Please note that, after playing with the upgraded system for a while,
it's clear that there are actually a great number of packages missing.
To name only a few that I've installed recently: doxygen, evince and a
moment ago I found out that that ODBC driver that I was using with
OpenOffice Base is gone.

Is it possible that this problem has something to do with the fact that
I have been upgrading this workstation for a long time through various
releases and beta cycles?
