** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I see a significant performance degradation on Xorg/Xvideo on Lucid
compared with Karmic. I see the same issue on two Pentium Laptops, one
with Intel 915GM chipset, the other with a 855GME chipset.

In both cases on 1080 video, the cpu shown for Xorg increases
drastically. For example on the 915GM, Xorg goes from 5% on Karmic to
  35% on Lucid.

In both cases, xvinfo shows the "Intel(R) Video Overlay" adapter.

The extra Xorg cpu makes 1080 marginal on one laptop, and unuseable on
the other, while both worked ok on Karmic.
