Yes but only for the appli in the foreground ! In the picture I've got nautilus and terminal opened (see on the right) but no mark (white triangle) on the icon of both applications. I think it's a difference between unity and unity-2d. If you look at this screenshot http://monroega.us/cityhall/gallery/ubuntu_natty_places-files.png there are two marks (one for nautilus and one for gnome-terminal).
