I found some other files with attribute "File Size: -1 (-1 bytes)".
They seem to be all my oldest mp3s (probably created by grip around the turn of 
the century).
They exhibit the same behavior as the Aesop files in that they don't play until 
I've played an mp3 with the normal format.

These are play fine on rhythmbox (as I write this).
Rhythmbox also parses the file information correctly (displays the filesize, 
bitrate, etc.).

I'll attach one of the files that Banshee chokes on.
