Ok I did some searching online and found the proper syntax for the
--purge option. So I ran "dpkg --purge transmission-gtk" and it appeared
to remove the config files. I tried again to run "apt-get --purge remove
transmission-gtk" with the proper syntax but it told me I could not
remove it because it was no longer installed. Below is what happens when
I try to install it. I get the same message if i attempt --reinstall.

robinson@robinson-LT20:~$ sudo apt-get install transmission-gtk
Reading package lists... Done

Reading state information... Done

requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
