This may be related, but I will need to do some more detective work:  I
have noticed that if I am already booted up and then I plug in my U3
flash drive, "gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor" will continuously eat up around
20% CPU and cause the entire system to be sluggish (especially nautilus
and the nautilus-powered desktop).  If I remove the drive, Nautilus will
continue to hog around 20% CPU indefinitely (I have to reboot for things
to be responsive again).  If I insert my other U3 flash drive into this
same system, it freezes up Nautilus pretty bad (practically
unresponsive).  So far, the three Natty systems I have tested this with
all have major problems with my U3 drives.  Maverick on all three
systems was flawless with these same drives.

My U3 drives:
1) Sandisk Cruzer 8GB
2) PNY Attache ... (the rest is smudged off)
