sviola / leighman, what is bizarre about this problem is that this may be a downstream only bug as I was unable to reproduce the freeze in Ubuntu 10.10, LibreOffice Impress but could reproduce using a virt- manager VM of Ubuntu 11.04, LO Impress via the Terminal:

This caused Impress to lock, and the mouse icon to remain the dragging icon (left it going for 8 hours, no change) but not crash. Because I ran it from the Terminal, I just Alt+Tab to the Terminal and pressed Ctrl+C ending Impress and regaining full control of the desktop. In Ubuntu 10.10, instead of Impress locking as noted above, the image of the sound box would move out of the highlighted resize area (please see attached screenshot.png).
