I can confirm this on this PNG. Basically, it's massive (2400x1091px and nearly 1MB in size) and with tons of (troublesome?) transparency. This was fine as a launcher in plain GNOME, but when used in Unity - not that I'd want to with the square-shaped icons, but still - it made it very, very slow. It wasn't until I found this bug that I knew it was causing the problem.
The obvious solution would be to make Unity display downsized caches of icons, not the icon files themselves. ** Attachment added: "Large PNG" https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/761854/+attachment/2104129/+files/pokemon_logo.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/761854 Title: slow unity launcher with certain icons like clementine -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
