All I want to do is to turn the discrete adapter OFF. This is a
workaround: blacklist the radeon module (in /etc/modprobe.d/somefile)
and manually load it in rc.local. Then turn OFF the discrete graphics
adapter in rc.local. Perhaps the load order of the modules is important
somehow. Anyway, I have now fooled the system into doing what I want.
