Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

In an x environment file, set APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1

for example, I have an ~/.xsessionrc with:
export APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1

Now start thunderbird. It comes up with a blank menu bar, but the merged
unity menu bar is there on hover. With APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1 set, the
correct behavior is that the menu should show in both locations.
