Public bug reported:

I'm using Unity with Natty in 64 bits kernel.

I'm not pretty sure this issue is kernel related but since the problem
seems to be the WA (so IOPS workload), it may be.

Problem description :
- I have a 1,1GB LZMA compressed file onto a vfat USB storage device
- I launch a shell (guake - bash) and launch a "tar -xvf file.lzma" so the file
is decompressed directly onto the USB storage device
- Then my desktop is almost freezed
- a top tells me my CPU is overloaded because of the IOPS waiting time :
top - 11:10:42 up 22:38, 1 user, load average: 5.77, 5.88, 3.67
Tasks: 201 total, 2 running, 194 sleeping, 0 stopped, 5 zombie
Cpu(s): 5.0%us, 3.7%sy, 0.0%ni, 4.1%id, 86.9%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.3%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 3957404k total, 3922740k used, 34664k free, 37792k buffers
Swap: 6143996k total, 521680k used, 5622316k free, 359436k cached

Expected behavior
I know that USB storage devices are generally very slow so I can understand
that the job takes some times, but it should not makes the Unity Desktop
unusable.

Regards,
nm
