Ok then, lets try clearing all pulse settings and see if that helps. If
you are comfortable with the terminal/command line, I suggest you log
into a console terminal once gdm comes up, and remove all pulseaudio
related files from your home directory, i.e "rm -r .pulse*". If that
doesn't work, I'd then try becoming root,a nd going to /var/lib/gdm and
removing the same files, "rm -r .pulse*". If that still doesn't help, I
suggest logging into a console terminal once again when gdm appears at
boot, and remove /var/lib/alsa/asound.state as root. A side effect of
all of this is that you will have to re-adjust your volume settings to
suit your taste.
