Hi, I have been having this problem, and I fix it when it happens by hitting WinKey+D twice (to show the desktop and then to bring my windows back). This seems to restore the cursor's function in my session without needing to update any repos or log out and back in. It is not related to unity because I tried unity --replace which didn't fix it. I have a netbook (dell mini 10v), with an integrated chipset. Again to confirm, the bug didn't occur in 10.10.
