Could you attach your current /etc/X11/xorg.conf , then could you back it up and attach the xorg.conf generated by "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" here too. Copy the old working configuration back and I'll see if I can synthesize a new config for you to test with from the result...
