thank you John for the definition of Malone. Actually I was waiting for an answer to a mail I sent which never arrived to Malone. May be it never arrived because it had 3 attachments? The content was as follows: *********************************************************************** My sources.list was this before modifying as you told me:
-- START OF SOURCES.LIST deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 5.10 _Breezy Badger_ - Release i386 (20051012)]/ breezy main restricted ## Uncomment the following two lines to fetch updated software from the network # deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu breezy main restricted # deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu breezy main restricted ## Uncomment the following two lines to fetch major bug fix updates produced ## after the final release of the distribution. deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu breezy-updates main restricted # deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu breezy-updates main restricted ## Uncomment the following two lines to add software from the 'universe' ## repository. ## N.B. software from this repository is ENTIRELY UNSUPPORTED by the Ubuntu ## team, and may not be under a free licence. Is that what you want ? Then, when I launch the update manager it tells me it "cannot install all available updates" (see attached screen capture 1). Then I click the "Close" button and the screen is as attached capture 2. I understand here that I can ignore the "You can install 539 updates" and I choosed to simply click the "Mettre à jour" (i.e. Update) button located at the right of "New distribution release '6.06 LTS' is available". So I did it and now update manager seems ok to upgrade my system (see attached capture #3) (info: don't pay attention to the sources.list in the background of this capture as it is the file before I modified it as per your instructions) Can I continue the update ? *********************************************************************** I see now that before the above one I answered another mail (to you, about ubuntu-desktop installed or not) which also did not arrived into Malone; that mail had also an attachment. The contents was as follows: *********************************************************************** It is installed (version is 0.80; see the attached capture) *********************************************************************** This time I do not insert the attachments. If you need them ask me. I will look on the site if there is any mean to assign attachments.
