Steps reproduced by me today: 1. Create a Live-USB (with persistent space)
2. Update packages with update-manager (includes tzdata) Next try to copy messages: ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ env LANGUAGE=en sudo apt-get install tzdata Reading package lists...
