As of the current maverick this could still be an issue. The log says May 18 11:50:25 rechner /usr/sbin/hplj1020: foo2zjs: Missing HP LaserJet 1020 fi rmware file /usr/share/foo2zjs/firmware/sihp1020.dl May 18 11:50:25 rechner /usr/sbin/hplj1020: foo2zjs: ...read foo2zjs installatio n instructions and run ./getweb 1020
If you run './getweb 1020' it breaks the printer - probably due to broken firmware May 18 11:49:58 rechner udev-configure-printer: Re-enabled printer ipp://localho st:631/printers/HP-LaserJet-1020 May 18 11:49:59 rechner /usr/sbin/hplj1020: foo2zjs: loading HP LaserJet 1020 fi rmware /usr/share/foo2zjs/firmware/sihp1020.dl to /dev/usb/lp0 ... This bug should be moved to the foo2zjs package. This is probably also the reason for the red box at http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ saying not to use the foo2zjs package in Ubuntu and a few other distros. The printer is on elderly user's computer who lives interstate - so further diagnosis is difficult. I was just investigating why "the printer didn't work" but it turns out to be another printer. However, it appears that if the printer installation is left in the default state it is OK. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/586335 Title: Maverick update breaks HP Laserjet 1020 printing -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
