I also have a new Asus U43F with a freshly installed Ubuntu 11.04 and I have
the same problem as Armandoj-93. When I try to suspend, either with the menu
or by closing the laptop, I get a blank screen, but the fans are still on and I
can't get the system to wake back up. As with those above, I've tried various
fixes such as this one:
http://thecodecentral.com/2011/01/18/fix-ubuntu-10-10-suspendhibernate-not-working-bug
without success.
I've been running Ubuntu on multiple laptops at work for several years, and I
have 11.04 running on an older laptop without problems. This is the first time
I've installed Ubuntu on the Asus U43F, so I don't know if this problem
occurred using previous versions.
