Public bug reported: Binary package hint: telepathy-butterfly
Occasionally, Empathy stops responding to user input - e.g. changing the status has no effect (although the main empathy window claims that the status has been changed), and messages fail to send or be recieved in chat windows. I strongly suspect that telepathy-butterfly is to blame as every time this happens the process status is "futex_wait_queue_me" as opposed to the usual "poll_schedule_timeout" and in system monitor attempting to terminate it using the "end process" command fails; only using the "kill" command works.
