As an advice, I am ubuntu user since 4.10, and I always suggest a full
ubuntu installation from scratch.

Upgrades between releases are not as good as expected. This issue has
been improved, however, it is in constant evolution.

It is better to backup the system every six months and then install the
ubuntu release from scratch.

Just an advice.
